The film is based on the Marvel Comics character Shang-Chi. The story follows the titular character Shang-Chi portrayed by Simu Liu, a skilled martial artist who was trained by his father Wenwu from his childhood to become an assassin, who is dragged into the clandestine Ten Rings Organization headed by his father; he is now forced to confront the past he thought he left behind.
