His first official production was eight songs from the album Down to Earth (1996) by Grav, a Chicago rapper. For a while, Ye acted as the ghost producer of D-Dot. Because of his work for D-Dot, West could not develop a solo career, so he joined the Go-Getters, a chicago rap group. In September 2005, Ye announced that he was releasing a clothing line called Pastelle Clothing in the spring of 2006. In 2009, Ye collaborated with Nike on the Air Yeezys shoe line, with a second version in 2012. In January 2009 Ye came up with his own shoe line for Louis Vuitton at paris fashion week. Ye also made a shoe line for BAPE and Giuseppe Zanotti.
